Chicago mayor Lightfoot said she's against a proposal by Cook County, backed by her old rival Toni Preckwinkle, that would lower Metra fares and increase service, on the grounds that it would hurt the CTA.
Reps from CDOT, Cook County, and Active Trans participated in the "Mobility as a Service" discussion, part of the Chicago Loop Alliance's Downtown Future Series.
Officials are seriously considering an idea that advocates have proposed for years: More frequent service on South Side and south-suburban Metra, cheaper fares, and free transfers to CTA.
